Finding funding for research andinventory assessmentsfor bryophytes and lichens.

A panel will discuss various types of federal and state government and other funding sources available for conducting basic inventory work and other research activities for the conservation of bryophytes and lichens. Strategies on how agency funding materializes either through grants, contracts, or various cooperative agreements will be discussed. Members of the audience will also be encouraged to participate in the discussion which should be helpful to both graduate students, amateur botanists, and professional bryologists and lichenoligists. The goal of this dissussion session is to increase awareness of how to successfully obtain supplemental funding to support various bryological and lichenological studies.
