Supporting Effective Teaching and Learning

BSA Sci-Pi: 2a. Implementing an Online Inquiry Project: K-12 Educator Breakout Session.

During these breakout sessions, educators working in K-12 and university settings have the opportunity to discuss the particular prospects and pitfalls they face in implementing an online inquiry project. In these breakout sessions, we welcome the input of educators involved in other projects that also seek to bolster the place of plants in today's science curriculum. Expected topics for discussion include: meeting state and national standards, integrating plant science projects into existing lesson plans, encouraging inquiry-based approaches, developing cross-disciplinary curricula, communicating online. We anticipate the breakout sessions will serve to identify not only the current strengths and weaknesses of the Sci-Pi project, but also the common challenges in promoting botanical literacy.
